Got my copy at 7 in the morning last Saturday. Never expecting the bookstore to be full of people since the last time when I grabbed HBP I was the only one in the bookstore at 7am, I went only on my house clothes. XD But then I waited in line for 15 minutes before I finally have the book at my hands. They gave a free bookmark, sticker and cookies. The sticker and bookmark are HP related… The cookies, not. X_X

Finished the book in two days. Well, technically, it’s two reading days since I wasn’t able to read the whole day yesterday and just stayed up the night til 5 in the morning to finish it. But I disgress. The book was great. It might be my third favorite book in the series. First would be PoA, followed by GoF and then more than likely, DH. I liked how Rowling ended the book. It has closure, meaning: “Finally, there really won’t be any other Harry Potter books!” Don’t get me wrong because I really love the books but if this drags on, it might loose its brilliance for me. Now, I wonder what her next series will be and if it’ll be as big as how Harry Potter is right now. I don’t know, HP has a big cult following that it could spill into her next series *shrugs* But we’ll see.

Some of the killings irked my though. I mean, did Rowling have to kill Hedwig? And the way how Harry and Hedwig ended just didn’t sit right with me. They were still not on “talking” terms when she died but Rowling just have to kill her. Next, is Mad-Eye’s… I mean they didn’t even find his body. Only his eye stuck in the door of Umbridge. It’s not a proper death for a great Auror like Mad-Eye. And then we have Fred. One of my most beloved character. Rowling killed two of my most favorite characters now. Sirius and now half of the Weasley twins. Why not Percy instead since there already was a closure with his relationship with the Weasley family. And then Rowling even adds more salt to the burn by killing Lupin and Tonks. And she killed them even without a story behind it! Like who killed them? How did they die? Avada Kedavra? Or did a wall fall on them? I actually cried when Fred died and then later discovered that both Tonks and Lupin died too. This one hurts more than Dumbledore’s death. I would have liked to know more about their battle but since this is Harry Potter, Rowling did focus on him. *shrugs*

And there were a couple of times that I would have loved to reach into the book and shake Harry. Most of the time, he was the reason why they are always in jeopardy. How many times have Ron said that they couldn’t say Voldemort’s name? But noooooo, Harry should always say his name. *rolls eyes*

As for the epilogue… what was that? Our happily ever after? Sorry, but I never did like the Harry x Ginny relationship and seeing them married with three kids?! And what’s with the name? Albus Severus? That name made me snicker. But Draco’s boy, Scorpius? That made me cringe. Wait… where did he get that name? Since Draco’s dragon so they have to name their son for another long-tailed animal/insect? *shrugs* Seriously, if my parent named me Scorpius, I’m thinking that I might turn Voldemort myself. XD At least I get to see a Ron x Hermione HEA. My number one HP OTP! And I wonder, Victorie is Bill and Fleur’s, right?

I’m glad that J.K. Rowling didn’t made Dumbledore the all-perfect wizard. Because that was what I got from the previous books. That he was always good. And that all that he did was good. Seeing him as a young Dumbledore seeking something greater even if it sometimes is for selfish reasons shed him in a different light and I liked that. It made him more human and not a saint.

I love the fact that Neville got a chance to shine in this one too. Glad that he had his moment killing Nagini! Plus he gets to pull out the Sword of Griffindor from the Sorting Hat! Neville rocks! Wished that Draco would have a moment though since Rowling build him up in the previous book. But maybe since he had his time to shine in HBP, Rowling gave the shining moment this time to Neville.

Harry being the seventh Horcrux was a giveaway when they went looking for the diadem. There was a part were they said they’re going to Hogwarts because the last Horcrux is in there and that made me count: diadem, goblet, locket, ring, diary, Nagini. That’s just six. There are seven Horcruxes and since there’s a close connection between Harry and Voldemort, that makes Harry’s the seventh.

I totally totally adore Snape. Snape. Snape. Severus Snape. There were times when I was thinking that Lily really should have ended up with you. You deserve her better than James did. You really do. And I’m so glad that Rowling told your whole life story. Well, almost whole life story. You begged Dumbledore, the enemy of your Voldemort, to save Lily. You turned spy to protect that which Lily loves even if that someone turns out to be a replica of your number one rival, James. You really did love Lily and I really love you for that. *clings*

Something made me think though. In the duel between Harry and Voldemort, Harry said something Snape not really being the Elder Wand’s master since technically, it was Dumbledore who planned his Death. Then he said that the real Elder Wand’s master is Draco. That part I didn’t get. Draco didn’t kill or defeated Dumbledore, right, but he became the Elder Wand’s master? How did that happen? *is confused*

I know I missed a lot more but I’m tired. My head aches either because of too much sweet, too much DS, too litte sleep or too much Potter. Take your pick. ^^;
