So, just came back from watching Twilight... the movie that is. Before watching the movie, the only interaction I had was with the movie was a couple of stills and the first trailer. From those, I thought that it was a bad adaptation of the book that was full of cheese. Robert Pattinson isn't Edward Cullen. Kristen Stewart isn't Bella. And Taylor Lautner isn't Jacob. In short, it was a miscast. I love the books. Yes, they are NOT the best and they are NOT well-written books but they are addictive. And before watching the movie, I have always thought that it would suck and wouldn't really live up to how much I like the book.
And now after watching the movie, I could say that I pretty much liked it. Not as bad as I was expecting. Still bad... but I guess that's one of the reasons why I liked the books. There is still that cheese that I saw in the trailer. And I still think most of the cast was a miscast. But I pretty much liked it.
From the start, even when the movie was still under production, RPattz isn't really my Edward. *cough*Gaspard*cough* He still isn't. I don't really find him that handsome here. He was hotter as Cedric than as Edward. He was creepy. The only time that I found him hot was when he and Bella arrived in school together for the first time, the time that he was wearing sunglasses. And that's bad since Edward should have been hot all throughout the movie. Now for Kristen Stewart, though initially I didn't feel that she was Bella, she grew on me. So she was okay on my book. Now for Taylor, you could say that I was so adamant against him being Jacob. I'm a big Jacob fan and love him to bits as much as I love Edward. But seriously, in this movie, I think Taylor did a good job as Jacob. He was great as a "young" Jacob. Now, I just wished that come New Moon, they would recast Jacob since we really need someone tall, buff and absolutely hot and sexy for Jacob. If ever they use Taylor, they should like give him added padding or something. I am still hoping for my Steven Strait Jacob! As for the other casts, Peter Facinelli scared me when he first entered the scene. I was thinking, "OMFG! That guys not a vampire! That's a ghost!" He wasn't pale! He was white! Tone down on the foundation next time, make up people! And for Jackson Rathbone's Jasper, I was actually giggling whenever he's on screen. It looks like he had a million cups of caffeine. XD Nikki Reid's Rosalie and Kellan Lutz's Emmet were okay and Ashley Green's Alice was perfect. And I love Billy Burk's Charlie!
A major thing that I would have like changed for the succeeding movies in the series, writers. Oh, please! Really, you don't need to lift some of the cheesiest lines in the book directly into the movie. Books and movies are different you know. What works for the book doesn't always work for the movie. And also a bit of me wants to change the director. Catherine Hardwicke, it's like you're trying hard for your actors to act. Make them act more naturally! I'm not addressing this to the actors because there are times that they're good in their roles. But watching the first one fourth or first half of the movie made me uncomfortable in my seat. It's like there's a stick shoved up their ass. But yeah... looks like Summit will still stick to Hardwicke for the New Moon sequel.
Anyway, that's it for now. Will be watching it again tomorrow (or is it tonight... *checks the time*) and will try to nitpick stuff again. XD
