Plot Summary: Kumiko “Yankumi” Yamaguchi enters Shirokin Gakuen Private School to become a math teacher. She’s assigned as the homeroom teacher for class 2-4, populated by a gang of delinquents. At first, the class tries everything to rattle her cage, but to no avail. In a short period of time, Yankumi gains the respect of the class. But what the school doesn’t know is that she’s the heir to the Oedo Group, a powerful Yakuza clan. So while Yankumi struggles to excel in her career as a teacher, she must also keep her Yakuza background a secret.

I squeezed in watching my backlog for Yakitate! Japan over work. Then again, Yakitate > work. XD But even if it’s one of the most hilarious series I’ve ever watched it still sometimes scare me.

can i just rant about prince of tennis? i really like this series. most of the characters are adorably cute. all the seigaku regulars are just awesome you just have to like them. this is one of the few series where i like almost all the main characters. the cocky boy, echizen. the dunk smasher, momoshiro. the acrobatic, kikumaru. half of the golden pair, oishi (who reminds me of naruto’s iruka). the cool and no-smile captain, tezuka. the always smiling fuji (who reminds me of bleach’s gin). the viper, kaidoh. the power player who goes berserk when he holds a racket, kawamura. and i even sometimes like the scary juice making guru, inui. even some of seigaku’s opponents i really like. there’s hyoutei’s shishido and jirou. there’s fudomine’s kamio, shinji and tachibana. and there’s sengokou’s lucky sengokou (who’s real name i can’t remember) and even if he scares me, akutsu. i haven’t even reached the rikkai fights yet.

aside from that, it’s really… mindboggling (for lack of better word)… how a sports-oriented anime, in this case tennis, could have dbz-esque moves. don’t get me wrong. i actually like those styles. it’s just that… it’s not freaking possible to do a crescent acrobatic thingie while in the middle of the court. or do a haddokyou with the tennis ball. and don’t get me started on fuji’s triple counter moves and that disappearing serve. but then this is anime. so you just have to love it. XD

but one thing that i can’t really stand with the series… the minor characters. i usually don’t mind minor characters. they pass by me most of the time. but in this case, no. they nag me to death. always on the screen reminding me why i should hate them. who am i talking about? echizen’s classmate who keeps on blabbering about his 2 years experience. that seigaku’s coach’s granddaughter, the one with the pigtails. that granddaughter’s friend who thinks that he’s the echizen’s fanclub president. and lastly, that annoying lady photographer. actually this last one, i can take sometimes. but the other three, it makes me want to reach into my monitor, grab them by the neck and just shake some sense into them. sometimes during matches, they’re just screaming, but isn’t that supposed to be discourteous? they’re supposed to know something about tennis. shouldn’t they also know to keep quiet during matches? -_-

*deep sigh*

there. that’s out of my system. now let me go back to watching more tenipuri and cheering for seigaku. because even if i absolutely hate these minor characters, my love for the seigaku team overshadows everything. i just really have to get that out. ^^
