Wu Chun and Calvin Chen in the Philippines
Jul 14th
You know Wu Chun? The cute Taiwanese version of Hana Kimi’s Sano? He’s visiting the Philippines together with fellow Fahrenheit member, Calvin Chen, promoting their current locally aired drama Romantic Princess. Events like this make me grateful that I work for a broadcasting company.
Events like these make me wish that ABS-CBN would get Hanadan or Gokusen from GMA7 and then bring MatsuJun and even Arashi here to the Philippines too.
Fandom babbling
Feb 29th
Look, Ma! Aren’t you proud of me? Yeah, after several layouts of just being a bunch of links, I finally really did a layout with all those write ups. And write ups that took me weeks to do. XD I’m seriously bad at writing stuff. And here I’m planning on making something out of all the sites I have. :\ That’s a pretty big endeavor. Anyway, cleaned the link list. If you don’t find your domain/collective over there, holler and I’ll add you.
Finally finished my Buffy marathon. All seven seasons. I watched only a couple of episodes when it was being aired locally and so I know I missed a lot. Even after finally finishing it, I am still a Bangel fan. And still Spike’s my most favorite character. XD I want Spike all to myself. Better if it’s a pre-soul Spike. I never realized they did that to him in the end of the show since I never did get to watch it. Next up, I’ll be marathoning Angel now since I just finished with Buffy. I miss Doyle even if he’s just like in it for 9 eps or so. Plus I get to see more Spike in season 5! :D
On other news, why is there so much fandom drama and wanking going around. Twilight fans are spazzing over the casting. I was over that last month. And now, I’m thinking drama will be back again once Taylor Lautner, that guy playing Sharkboy, turns out to be really Jacob. Yeah, I don’t think he’s good for the part, but what could I do. Plus Twilight!Jacob didn’t really leave an impression on me. I’m just confused with Summit calling this open casting for a Native American to play Jacob and then we have here a 100% Caucasian boy playing him. So, is there still hope for Steven Strait to be NewMoon!Jacob or Eclipse!Jacob? Anyway, that’s Twilight fandom for you. Where rabid and crazy fangirls are loose. And that includes stalking and scary moms.
And then there’s a little lesser drama going on in the Supernatural fandom since it was temporarily replaced by Reaper from the air. I know SPN doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves. But for one, I won’t bash Reaper until I’ve seen it and really didn’t like it, which is what like some of the more immature SPN fans are doing. I have watched a couple of episodes of Reaper and though it doesn’t really come close to SPN, I think it’s not really worth bashing. Kevin Smith’s really a fun writer and some of the episodes are funny. But yeah, not worth bashing.
I guess that’s fandom stuff for you. Where you meet fangirls that sometimes ruin stuff for others. *shrugs*
And lastly, WTF, where was I? Prince of Tennis manga already ended?! I have some catching up to do on that one. I think I stopped early-Nationals. I wonder what Konomi will do next.
on Final Fantasy XII
Apr 7th
After months of putting it off, I finally finished Final Fantasy XII. Finally. The last time I played, a couple or more months ago, I stopped prior to entering Bahamut. I always pushed it back for a couple of reasons. First, I would really love to finish the hunts/marks and the sky pirate den part before actually finishing the story. I was down to the last three marks left when I got bored and just went on to with the story. Second, you know the feeling of not wanting something to end, so as much as possible, you try to prolong it? In my case, since I didn’t want my FFXII game to end, I just didn’t play it. XD
Warning: Spoilers for the ending! This will be your only warning.
And now that I’ve finished it, I so want to play the game yet again. Balthier! OMG! I love you Balthier! You’re such a hero. You really are the leading man in my book. *snuggles* I’m glad I finished it. Call me crybaby but I teared up when I saw Balthier fixing the Bahamut in order to save Rabanaster. Talk about hero complex, this guy loves saving the day. I was sorta spoiled in this part of the game, knowing that he and Fran will be staying behind when the Strahl leaves, but I still was rooting to have a small glimpse of him prior to the end credits. But no, I just get to see a card/note. Now, I’m wanting Square-Enix to make an NA release for Revenant Wings just to be able to see Balthier yet again. Good thing that I’m really planning on getting a DS than a PSP.
The only thing that kept me baffled was… there was something between Basch and Ashe? O_o I mean, throughout the game, I was thinking that what Basch was feeling for Ashe was more of loyalty and duty. I didn’t know that there’s something romantic going on between these two. So when Penelo said in her letter to Larsa that Ashe was missing Basch… I was like… ehhh?! I felt more chemistry between Ashe and Vaan than Ashe and Basch. Actually, I was rooting for Vaan and Ashe til the end. I didn’t feel anything for the Penelo and Vaan relationship unless you talk about friendship because that’s the only thing I saw between the two. I saw Penelo having some feelings towards Vaan but it felt like Vaan wasn’t returning Penelo’s feeling and she’s just the bestfriend. I never saw Vaan gave Penelo the same concern he gave Ashe.
But then, this is a game that I truly enjoyed even with the lack of the romantic side of the story. I enjoyed it more actually due to it’s political strife and war. Plus, who needs the love story when you have a hero like Balthier. XD
