on being a Filipino

You Know You’re Filipino When….
(thanks to [info]trinityhelix for the link XD though i think it was circulated before in the email department)

That is just soooo darn true. XD I was counting all that’s applicable to me and i got a 52 out of 66. So sad but the You follow your parents’ house rules even if you are over 18. and the You live with your parents until and at times even after you’re married. are sooo true. Heck, I don’t know if I’ll be leaving my parents home soon but squeezing myself into their home is cheaper than living on my own. Plus sometimes it’s fun when you have someone to pamper you.

You think a meal is not a meal without rice. and You eat fried Spam and hot dogs with rice.
Oh and I truly believe that meals without rice is really isn’t a meal. Except for pasta and pancit and pizza (which I consider a snack), everything meal I eat, I eat with rice. At least half a cup but sometimes can go as high as three cups of rice. Sometimes, even my snacks comprise of rice and viands. Maybe that’s why diets don’t work on me. People tell me that in order to loose weight, I have to let go of eating rice. What the… I can’t imagine myself eating without rice. T_T Plus hotdog and Spam are breakfast food. So I eat them with rice.

You use paper foot outlines when buying shoes for friends and relatives.
Oh. My. God. *snickers* I remember doing this when I was a kid. *face palms*

You hold your palms together in front of you and say “excuse, excuse” when you pass in between people or in front of the TV. and When you’re in a restaurant, you wipe your plate and utensils before using them.
Now, I didn’t realize this was a Filipino thing to do. XDDD And here I thought every polite people do the excuse me thing that way. And the plate thing? XD

You think Christmas season begins in October and ends in January.
I thought Christmas starts once the -ber months enter, think September, til February. Yes, that’s how long Christmas season is here. On exactly September 1, expect to hear Christmas carols being played on some radio stations. Expect the early Christmas sales to appear. Expect the Christmas traffic on the street. And the plastic Christmas trees. I remember before that we usually set-up our Christmas tree on either September or October and take it down on February. Lately though, we set it up on November, during the first week of the month. And take it down by mid-January. That’s still a long time for a Christmas tree to be up. But then I still know a lot of people who have their trees set-up from September to February. Hmmm. And since we’re in the topic of Christmas, let me be the first one… well, one of the early ones to greet you a Merry Christmas!
